The Arts After School Kids were proud recipients of the Organization Champion Award from The Brant | Brantford Roundtable on Poverty at the 1st Annual Celebrating Champions for Prosperity Awards Night.
The goal of the ceremony was to recognize the outstanding contribution of community members, students, private sector and community organizations to poverty reduction in Brantford and Brant County.
The event is also designed to demonstrate the importance of community engagement in addressing issues critical to building prosperity for all residents of our city and the county.
Along with winning the award the AASK group with part of 3 performances. The students performed the classic cult hit “Monster Mash” to a live crowd and Gayle Myke and Irena Zenewych performed 2 clown skits showing different approaches to homelessness.
“We are so proud to be part of a community that recognizes the need that poverty brings” says Gayle. “And to win this award is a extra special”.
Along with Gayle and Irena other performers for AASK included Brandon Garvey, Taylor Young, Kyle Walker, Drisdin Woudenberg, Kassidy Crawford and Abby Sullivan.
