Arts After School Kids (AASK) is a Unique Free not for profit charitable organization that offers an arts based program that develops self esteem and confidence and sparkling potential in youth 11-14 in our community. The students attend twice a week for sessions with professional instruction in different art forms, which are acoustic & bass guitar, keyboard, vocals, drums, visual arts and drama. The program offers a nutritional snack prior to sessions.
AASK will provide a supportive and safe learning environment for at risk youth with a focus on developing skills, through the arts, to assist their future growth and development.
The program is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30- 4:45 pm at 97 Tenth Avenue, using space at Bellview Public School in Eagle Place.
The program has been operating since the pilot in 2007. We are funded by numerous community stakeholders, foundations, local businesses, corporate, and personal donation.
We are currently developing our governance, with a Board of 10 members, and utilizing two consultants.
By using music and art as the driving force we are:
connecting students to their creativity, enhancing self awareness, creating opportunities for youth who may not other -wise have the chance to experience the arts.
