Our Instructors

Ben Herbert

Ben started playing the guitar at 22 years old and has had the opportunity to play in the Phill Botting Band which had him record 2 songs at Grant Avenue Studios along with playing at Hamilton Place for the annual Soup Fest and open for Travis Tritt in Buffalo, NY.

When Ben isn’t at AASK he can be found hanging out with his wife, Lisa and 3 kids Liam, Orson and Henley. Ben is also an Associate Pastor at Gateway Alliance Church in Brantford.

Nicola Capindale

I taught the vocal class at AASK.  I thought this would be a good fit for me because I have been in choirs since I was 7 years old.  I wanted to share my love of music with the youth in the program.  I also like knitting, photography, baking, and cooking.

Court Johnson

I started as a vocal instructor but have since moved to a position of roaming and helping in different classes as is required. For example, I have helped vocal, drum, guitar, band and bass classes.
Some things I enjoy are photography, Tai Chi, darts, archery, music ( playing, guitar, and singing, I have performed vocally three times at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto), computers ( I have obtained the A+ computers technician certification), chess and horse back riding.
If you wish to know more let me know.

Jeremiah McCaw Budnark

He currently sings & plays bass in a professional performing duo called ‘Jericho’ with fellow AASK instructor Eric Bower.

Together they have performed at festivals, concerts and commercial venues in southern Ontario and are working toward their debut CD.

Moira Fergusonm

began instructing at AASK in 2013. As a Artist-Educator with The Royal Conservatory and she is proud to be the visual art instructor the Arts After School Kids program in Brantford. Her goal is to inspire and open to creativity young energetic minds with a focus on curriculum based learning.

Moira has been an artist all of her life, at times not knowing to follow her heart. She is a qualified painter with a joy for colour, shape and design. Her style leans towards abstract and is a composition of balance, line and form.

She is a diverse artists mastering several mediums, including: stain glass mosaic, acrylic, watercolour and torn paper collage. Expressing a likeness and abstract relationship with the subject in her work, she brings a personal connection to each art piece. Moira has a passion for art, a kind teaching style, a warm and open personality.

Doc Johnson

Prior to joining the AASK program I worked as a travelling musician for ten years and, following that, as a travelling portrait photographer. The result of that job led to the position of General Manager of Photographic Operations of Angel Studios which was the largest family portrait studio in Canada. During this time, I continued to work as a part time musician and entertainer. My entertainment career as a vocalist has led me to become a Roy Orbison tribute artist and the opportunity and privilege of performing at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto on three different occasions. I still continue to entertain whenever possible.

Finally, I am truthfully happy to be a part of the AASK program which gives me the chance to help children of the community learn and improve themselves.
